One of the biggest hurdles is deciding what type of tint to get for your car. Window films are produced with many different types of constructions to meet the needs of consumers' requirements. So, the number one thing to make certain of is the reason for getting tint. The majority of the time people want window tint to block out the sun and get some privacy. Which is a very valid reason in my opinion. So, fortunately, window tint has advanced quite a bit since the advent of window films many decades ago. However, throughout time people have battled with bubbles that just make the ride unsafe and ugly in appearance. Fortunately, much advancement has been made to minimize the bubbling of the film. Unfortunately, it could not be completely eliminated. My assumption is that adhesives of window film are good for 10-15yrs at most. Even then you can notice the film have some type of failures such as rippling, and delaminating effects to the films. Below are some things to look out for so that you get the most out of your window tint by having it last a long time or at least however long you decide to keep the car.
- Determine if the film is color stable. The color-stable film does not turn purple or fade
- Determine how long the film will last. Each type of film has its unique construction that gives its special features. Such as reducing solar energy by limiting solar energy being transmitted to the car hench giving its cooling effect.
- Is the warranty provided by the manufacturer? Manufacture-backed warranties are much more reliable if they are known to have been produced in the USA. Manufacturer warranties are also valid all across the USA.
- Choose Ceramic over other types of films. Check out my previous blog to learn more about ceramics. In summary, ceramic will give you the best heat protection and comfort while you are driving your car on a long summer day on a long-distance haul. Pay the extra for more comfort and savings.
